Yaritza de Jesus

Yaritza De Jesus, LCPC

Bilingual Psychotherapist
Clinical Supervisor

Hello, my name is Yaritza De Jesus, and I’m a bilingual psychotherapist at Latinx Talk Therapy. I am a proud graduate of DePaul University, where I received my Master of Education in School and Community Counseling. With over ten years of experience serving the Latinx population in various capacities, I bring a wealth of knowledge and cultural sensitivity. In my therapeutic approach, I draw upon a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), mindfulness practices, Solution-Focused Therapy, and strength-based approaches, to tailor interventions that will meet the specific needs and goals of each individual client. Furthermore, I recognize the importance of humor in the therapeutic process and incorporate it as a tool to foster connection and resilience.

I value the unique lived experiences that each individual brings and strive to build a strong connection based on trust, empathy, and respect. Together, we will explore your strengths, navigate life’s challenges, and discover the transformative power that lies within you.

You Don’t Have to Face Your Struggles Alone, I Am Here to Help

As a Latina counselor, I deeply understand the unique cultural experiences and challenges faced by Latinx individuals. I recognize the impact of systemic oppression and the role it plays in mental health disparities. I strive to create a safe and inclusive space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and identities. I am dedicated to providing therapy in English, Spanish, and Spanglish. I want to ensure that language is never a barrier to accessing the support you need. I am deeply committed to providing culturally sensitive care that honors your unique identity and experiences.

I believe that building a strong therapeutic alliance with my clients is key to good therapy. I aim to create a warm, non-judgmental, and safe space where my clients can truly be themselves. By incorporating humor, we can create a warm and welcoming environment where you feel comfortable exploring difficult topics and fostering personal growth.

Get to Know A Little Bit More About Me

I was born and raised on the West side of Chicago. I am half-Mexican and half-Puerto Rican. As a multicultural Latina, I can relate to the richness and diversity of Latinx cultures. Being a first-generation college student myself, I understand the unique challenges and triumphs that come with that experience.

Outside of my professional life, I share a passion for dancing and traveling. Dance can be a powerful form of self-expression and a source of joy and release. It’s a beautiful way to connect with our bodies and emotions. Traveling allows us to explore different cultures, broaden our perspectives, and create meaningful experiences. I believe these interests and hobbies can enhance our therapeutic relationship by offering additional avenues for exploration and self-discovery.

Lastly, as a self-proclaimed foodie, I appreciate the sensory experience and cultural significance that food carries. It can be a way to connect with our roots, explore new tastes and flavors, and create shared memories. Food can also serve as a metaphor for nourishment and self-care, reminding us of the importance of nurturing our minds and bodies.
