Leani Pinzon

Leani Pinzon, MA

Bilingual Art Therapist Intern

Hola, I am Leani Pinzon, a bilingual art therapist intern at Latinx Talk Therapy. My approach to therapy involves incorporating a blend of color, crafts, humor, and Spanglish into sessions, creating a secure and nurturing space. I employ an eclectic clinical methodology that combines art as therapy with a range of adaptable techniques, tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.

Drawing from my own identity as a Latinx individual, I am deeply committed to exploring the cultural challenges, experiences of isolation, adversities, and injustices that our community often faces, all of which profoundly shape our daily lives. In my role as a therapist, I am dedicated to assisting you in identifying triggers, acknowledging both negative and positive behavioral patterns, and effectively managing anxiety.

As an artist, I leverage the power of color, shapes, and textures to facilitate self-discovery and self-expression, fostering an environment that is devoid of judgment and criticism. Regardless of your perceived artistic aptitude, our therapeutic space serves as a sanctuary to embrace mistakes and cultivate a foundation of trust.

Ultimately, my purpose is to provide you with a profound sense of being heard, supported, and empowered, empowering you to embark on a journey of positive change and personal growth.

You Don’t Have to Face Your Struggles Alone, I Am Here to Help

Through my previous professional endeavors, I have gained extensive experience working with individuals spanning various age groups, including children, teenagers, and adults. My exposure to the challenges associated with profound anxiety, depression, trauma, and solitude has provided me with a deep understanding of their impact. I have actively aided individuals in effectively addressing and mitigating the symptoms frequently intertwined with mental health disorders, encompassing cognitive haziness, emotions of powerlessness, seclusion, diminished drive, exasperation, and cognitive disarray. Please know that you need not undertake this journey in isolation; my fundamental objective revolves around facilitating the processing of these intricate emotions and offering unwavering support as you navigate the complexities of life’s trials.

Get to Know A Little Bit More About Me

I was born in New York, but my early years were spent in Guatemala, where I was raised throughout the formative stages of my childhood, teenage years, and young adulthood. Both my parents, hailing from Guatemala, recognized the advantages of US citizenship and undertook significant risks to afford my siblings and me enhanced opportunities. As a native Spanish speaker, I acquired a profound connection to language. From an early age, I found solace in art as an avenue to escape the daily pressures and anxieties. In 2016, my pursuit of a Psychology degree led me to relocate to Arkansas and enroll at John Brown University. Following graduation, I engaged with a non-profit organization, assuming the role of a qualified behavioral health provider within a school environment. This role encompassed conducting individual sessions with high-needs children contending with behavioral challenges. Through the incorporation of art, I facilitated emotional processing and anxiety management. My inclination for creativity seamlessly integrates into every facet of my work. Subsequently, I embarked on a continued educational journey at the Art Institute of Chicago, where I am presently pursuing a Master’s degree in art therapy. This trajectory has culminated in my association with Latinx Talk Therapy. My focus centers on aiding Hispanic families, children, adolescents, and adults. My fulfillment derives from endowing clients with fresh perspectives and fostering alternative contemplation of life’s situations.
