Latinx Talk Therapy

“My biggest priority when starting therapy was controlling my anger and rage when confronted with issues at the workplace. Also in finding methods of healing from secondary trauma. I’ve learned to release that anger. I feel a drastic change in my interactions with co-workers. I no longer try to look for their acceptance or validation. I try to find ways to do that on my own. I also take breaks. My work is very emotionally taxing and I’m learning how to not hold the pain of others. Ernestina has also helped me in a major jump of moving out of my family’s house for the first time. We sat down and created a budget together, something that I had a lot of anxiety about. That was extremely helpful for me because my family did not want me to move out and I felt like I did not have support. DO IT! I have no complaints. Find someone who reassures your pain in navigating the struggles of assimilation but also checks you! Someone who listens to you wholeheartedly and gives you tools to better yourself. I am so incredibly happy I started therapy. Thank you to therapists of color who are exposing themselves to situations that could be re-traumatizing in this work! I admire you all TONS.”

“For me, I’ve always been the one that people come to for advice, I always felt I was fine and had a great support system. Therapy however, has provided me with the space I need to explore and go within. Sometimes when I feel I don’t have much to talk about, I have the biggest breakthroughs and uncover layers of experiences or whatever emotions that give something in the present a different meaning or helps me make sense of something I am facing in the present moment. It’s quite liberating in that sense. I’ve found a lot of helpful reflection, genuine learning how to soothe and love myself, acceptance and inner healing through this process. And I genuinely mean that. It has helped me know myself better, on a deeper level. I didn’t have one specific issue prompting me to seek therapy, rather I felt it would be nice to talk to someone who isn’t a friend or family for just general life advice, or to vent and a lot more has come out of that. For me, it was worth it, but you won’t know unless you give yourself a chance to find that out.”

“The therapists at Latinx therapy are exceptional, care for their clients, and are always willing to help you in whatever way you need, they don’t try to impose their own agenda onto their clients, but let the clients be the author of their own story. As Latinx people, we’re often told that therapy is for “los locos de la familia” that lie has made it so that we don’t come face to face with our problems, therapy provides the tools and weapons we need to confront and defeat our problems, regardless of how big or small the problems are. I’ve been able to separate from toxic relationships and set healthier boundaries. Breaking down the challenges into small attainable goals made the challenges less overwhelming.”

“Adapting to a workplace environment that had challenges in personnel and structure that I could not change. I learned how to mindfully practice assertiveness at work to make my voice heard and have become more aware of allocating my energy to creating projects outside of work. Ernestina mindfully guided me to be comfortable with my choices and brought a clearer picture of what I needed to do for myself, without criticism or assumption. Sometimes, we unknowingly recreate an environment that we are used to based on what we see as comfortable or familiar. Latinx Talk Therapy is just that balanced link who works with you to manage the issues that you may need interpreted or issues that you seek to change. I’m super grateful to have met Ernestina.”

“I knew I needed to see a therapist, but I felt I would never find someone that could understand me or my background. I’m so grateful I found Latinx Talk Therapy. Jessica understands how my culture functions and how the environment that I grew up in has shaped me. She also has helped me find ways to cope, communicate and validated my feelings. Everyone has different feelings and that’s ok. I have been able to process and let go of certain feelings that I have built up throughout the years. I’ve learned how to protect my feelings and  sanity. As well as be conscious when certain situations come up and not react negatively. Instead I am able to be self aware and communicate exactly how I am feeling. Nothing is wrong with you for feeling the way you do. There’s nothing wrong or shameful with seeking therapy. Sometimes we need professional help to process our emotions or traumas to live an emotional healthier life.”
