I Support the Latinx Community by Valuing Unique Lived Experiences Through a Culturally Sensitive Lens.

Learn About Me and How I Can Help

Jessica Rodriguez, LSW

Bilingual Psychotherapist

Hola, my name is Jessica (she/her/ella). I’m a Bilingual Psychotherapist at Latinx Talk Therapy. I encourage you to show up as your authentic self in sessions. My clinical approach is client-centered and focuses on building a strong therapeutic alliance. I incorporate various methods, such as Psychodynamic Therapy, TF-CBT, and Motivational Interviewing, tailored to each client’s needs and preferences. I take a trauma-informed approach to help Latinx/e clients reach their fullest potential. My theoretical framework is holistic, integrating attachment theory, relational theory, self-esteem building skills, and self-exploration.
As a Latinx/e individual myself, I understand the importance of valuing and embracing our unique journeys. Our community faces inequities and injustices that shape our lives. I value the lens of intersectionality and consider it crucial to recognize each Latinx/e person’s story as distinct.

You Don’t Have to Face Your Struggles Alone, I Am Here to Help

In my past professional experiences, I have worked with refugee and immigrant children, adults, and families. I have assisted Afghan refugees fleeing their home countries and settling into the United States. Additionally, I have supported newly arrived Latinx/e migrants in the U.S. with resettlement services. I have witnessed these populations face intense mental health challenges, such as interpersonal violence, anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). These experiences have shaped my therapeutic approach, enabling me to collaborate with my clients to help them explore and understand more about themselves.

Get to Know A Little Bit More About Me

I was born and raised in the suburbs west of Chicago. I grew up in a Mexican immigrant household and am a native Spanish speaker. I deeply value my Mexican roots, as they have shaped who I am today. My family’s migration story begins with my paternal grandfather, who participated in the Bracero Program in the 1950s, seasonally migrating to the U.S. to help revive the economy through agricultural labor after WWII. My father then migrated to the U.S. in the late ’70s, and my mother followed in the ’90s, making the U.S. their home. My family holds many traditional values connected to their Mexican heritage, which have also shaped my own values. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and obtained my Master’s degree in Social Work with a Clinical concentration from the University of Chicago. Beyond the therapy room, I enjoy being active, such as going on long walks, bike rides, and doing yoga. Additionally, I love exploring the beautiful city with friends and family.

I have worked with people who have experienced depression, anxiety, grief, loss, childhood trauma, and racial trauma.
