Bilingual Psychotherapist Intern

Angeles Garcia | LSW Intern

Ángeles Maria Garcia is a bilingual therapist passionate about creating a warm, supportive, and culturally responsive space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered in their healing journey. As a second-generation Mexican-American, Ángeles understands the influence of culture, family, identity, and generational expectations on mental health and is committed to helping clients feel that they never have to separate these parts of themselves from the therapeutic process.

Her approach to therapy is person-centered, strengths-based, and systems-oriented. Ángeles believes clients are the experts in their own lives and works collaboratively with them to explore challenges, recognize their strengths, and develop practical tools for coping and personal growth. She integrates approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care to support each client’s unique needs.

Ángeles is especially passionate about supporting first-generation students, young adults, and bicultural Latinx clients navigating anxiety, stress, grief and loss, family or relationship conflict, identity exploration, self-esteem, and cultural or acculturation-related stress. She is also interested in helping clients navigate family expectations, intergenerational differences, academic and career pressures, and the experience of balancing different identities and values.

At the heart of Ángeles’ work is the belief that seeking mental health support is a sign of strength, not weakness. She hopes clients leave therapy feeling more understood, empowered, and connected to themselves, with greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and confidence in their ability to navigate life’s challenges. Her goal is to create a space where clients can be honest, honor their experiences, and recognize the resilience and strengths they already carry.

"You can honor where you come from while still making space for who you are becoming."

Healing the Latinx Experience

We know Latinx mental health is shaped by more than stress. Things like language, family loyalty, shame and gender roles al impact how we carry and express pain. You don’t have to translate your story here-we get it.
