Who we are:
Latinx Talk Therapy was established in efforts to provide mental health services to the Latinx community in a space that is culturally competent, bilingual, and non-stigmatizing. We also aim to create mental health awareness in our community. Our licensed clinical therapists are all Latinx and native Spanish-speakers. It is our mission to help guide the Latinx community through professional counseling and evidence-based practices in reaching their maximum mental wellness and meet their life goals.
How we help Latinx during the pandemic:
People of color have been hit the hardest by the pandemic. The CDC reports that about 26% of people who have died from COVID-19 in the United States were Latinx. In Chicago, Latino residents have accounted for 47% of the city’s reported COVID-19 cases and 32.7% of deaths, even though they only make up 29% of the city’s population (City of Chicago, 2020).
These health disparities can be contributed to inequities in employment, housing, transportation, education and health insurance availability. Many members of the latinx community are disproportionately represented in essential work settings and are unable to work from home and take sick days.
The pandemic has changed many of the ways we connect and support each other. We have had to deal with anxiety over the virus spreading, school closures, workplace closures, unemployment, financial difficulties, social distancing, and quarantine. It is now more important than ever to find emotional support and connection and better cope with stress brought upon by all of these changes.
At Latinx Talk Therapy, we offer virtual therapy sessions in Spanish and English. We accept health insurance such as Blue Cross Blue Shields, Aetna, Cigna, United Behavioral Health, and Humana. We also accept self-pay. And for people without insurance, we offer sliding scale therapy services at half the price of the regular cost.
