Helping The Latinx Community to Become More Certain, Calm, and Confident
You Are Not Alone | The Professionals at Latinx Talk Therapy Are Here to Help
Ernestina Perez, LCPC
Bilingual Psychotherapist
Hello, my name is Ernestina Perez and I am a licensed clinical therapist in Chicago, Illinois. I founded Latinx Talk Therapy with the intention of providing mental health services to the Latinx community in a space that is culturally competent, bilingual, and non-stigmatizing.
I love and am proud of our Latinx community. I want the members of our community to thrive and become empowered with the help of therapy. I believe that the key to any personal transformation lies within improving the strength, courage, and willpower of the mind. When you empower your mind, there is no challenge you can’t take on. Not only do I aim to help Latinx with their mental and emotional concerns, but I also take it upon myself to help them manifest the happiness and peace they wish to see in their lives.
I can guarantee that we’re going to get through your struggles together to help you meet your goals and to live a more fulfilling and intentional life.
As a Maya woman, I understand the complexity of navigating the Western world through this lens. I have a tri-cultural background, which means I was born into Western culture under a Latinx microscope while honing in on my Maya roots and gifts. No matter your background, I want to support you while learning more about yourself, your family, and those around you as you begin or continue your healing journey. I am here to provide a safe and sacred space to become the best version of yourself!
You Don’t Have to Face Your Struggles Alone, I Am Here to Help
I have worked with adults who have emigrated from their home countries, parents, individuals expecting a child, folks with substance use disorders, and young adults. – I have seen how being in one or more marginalized groups can impact mental wellness on several levels. I have helped folks combat shame, abandonment, fear, grief, and loss. Some of your loved ones might not fully comprehend what you are going through, but I am here to help you feel heard and validated and ultimately help you discover your true self.
Too often, members of the Latinx community may find it difficult to find success and peace when they are confronted with mental and emotional struggles. Anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and stress are all significant factors getting in the way of their professional, personal, and home life. These struggles often include symptoms of self-doubt, inadequacy, fear, not feeling good enough, sadness, distraction, worry, loneliness, unhappy, or overwhelming feelings. Thankfully, there is a way to navigate your life and overcome these distressing emotions.

Get to Know A Little Bit More About Me
I was born in Mexico and immigrated to the United States as a child. I became a U.S Citizen in 2015. I pursued college after I became documented at the age of 19. I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling from Northwestern University and my Bachelor of Arts in Applied Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. My career kickstarted with academic research in the performance of ethnic minority college students and the mental health implications of being undocumented.
My motivation for helping people overcome anxiety, depression, stress, ineffective communication, and self-conflicts that hold them back from their full potential. Outside of my practice, I actively participate in hobbies that also provide me with the opportunity to grow as an individual such as traveling, reading, and spending time with my loved ones and my dog, Benito.
